What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a method of replacing a tooth with an artificial tooth anchored to a titanium root. The titanium part is called the “implant” and the ceramic replacement tooth is a “crown.” 


The titanium implant is placed in the bone of the jaw and then is allowed to bond tightly with the bone. The natural-looking ceramic tooth is then secured to the top of the implant. The result is a durable, natural-looking, undetectable replacement tooth.

Meet Dr. Joseph Willis, DMD

Hi! I am Dr. Joseph Willis. I grew up in a small town of Plymouth, Indiana (Notre Dame fan here) and moved to Oklahoma to attend college at Oral Roberts University in 2004. From there I attended University of Louisville School of Dentistry, graduating with my DMD in 2017. I worked as an associate with Heartland Dental for a little over 3 years before finding my home at Dental Arts. 


I have always been passionate about dentistry since I was a small child, around 12 years old. I loved going to the dentist and watching my family get their teeth worked on or cleaned. The technology and life changing capabilities of dentistry now a days is just incredible! We have the best doctors and staff in the world! I am excited to have the opportunity of growing in with this community and taking care of everyone! 

MEET DR. SOREN MICHAELSEN

Dr. Soren Michaelsen was born and raised in Norman, OK. He attended the University of Oklahoma and Brigham Young University during his undergraduate studies. After acceptance into the OU College of Dentistry, Dr. Michaelsen and his wife Natalie, a native of Broken Arrow, were excited to be able to move back home to the Sooner State.


Immediately after receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. Michaelsen began his private practice in Catoosa where he plans to enjoy a long career serving and caring for the dental needs of Catoosa and the surrounding communities.
